PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER Jameson, located in Clover, SC, is a leading manufacturer of innovative products for the Military, Telecommunications, CATV, Power Utility and Tree Care Markets. Our company has an immediate opening for a Product Development Engineer. This position is responsible for coordination of new product development and product redesign particularly with a focus on electrical and lighting design. Lead projects from conception to introduction. Provide technical product support to both inside and outside customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Works cross-functionally with sales, marketing and manufacturing to prioritize development programs and establish schedules, deadlines and related timetables. * Analyzes research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposal. * Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics. * Directs and coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system. * Plans and develops experimental test programs. * Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications. * Interacts with customers to determine new product criteria, performance requirements, marketing data and target cost/pricing levels. * Confers with research and other engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required. * Evaluates engineering test results for possible application to development of systems or other uses. * Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks. * Implements the product design within the schedule and budget parameters. * Provides support to manufacturing to ensure product is fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design. * Ensures that all new product and engineering initiatives are in-line with overall corporate strategy and vision. This position may require travel to vendors, customers and trade show participation.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE * B. S. in Engineering * Minimum of 3-5 years product development and project management experience, preferably in electrical and/or lighting design * Proficient in AutoCad and/or SolidWorks * Understanding of machine tools, materials, fabrication techniques and manufacturing processes * Proven project management skills * Experienced in design for manufacturability and cost/benefit sensitivity * Strong verbal, written and analytical skills are required, along with demonstrated interpersonal skills and a high degree of integrity.
