Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Convert technical program design specification into application software and maintain previously developed software, emphasizing unit and system test plans which adequately exercise the performance of the system components as well as following all requirements to deploy applications software into production status. ' Converting technical program or system design specifications into application or system software (custom solution), or evaluating and utilizing previously developed application or system software (package solution), that is maintainable, well documented, and satisfies a business need. ' Creating, modifying, implementing, and/or executing unit and system test plans, which adequately exercise the performance of the system and its various components. ' Performing the various detailed tasks required to deploy application or systems software into production status and ensuring that the resultant deliverables meet quality specifications and satisfy the associated business need.
Expectations/Obtain expert proficiency in: ' Construct / configure, install, and maintain complex application or system software. ' Create and/or update documentation. ' Adhere to appropriate system development standards and process methodology. ' Developing functional, integration, regression, and stress test plans for software supported.
Analysis Definition ' Identifying, defining, and documenting problems or situations that require attention or improvement. ' Locating, collecting, and organizing information that enhances the understanding of a problem or situation and that facilitates effective communication of it to others. ' Studying, examining, and interpreting the problem or situation (complex) by separating it into its discrete components (simple) to better understand how the components fit together and why they are arranged in a particular way. ' Using resultant information to develop, evaluate, and present a conceptual solution or alternative for a problem or situation that satisfies an associated business need.
Expectations/Obtain and maintain expert proficiency in: ' Performing assigned Incident Management duties, to include on-call rotation. ' Isolating, diagnosing and resolving complex software problems, including root cause analysis. ' Ensuring that functional and technical requirements contain sufficient and appropriate detail and definition. ' Documenting and communicating findings and recommendations for resolution. ' Evaluating test results of applications as it relates to performance and business processes. ' Proactively monitoring system performance and availability. ' Assisting and mentoring less experienced staff to resolve complex problems.
Design Definition 1. Translating a conceptual solution or alternative into a descriptive model, specification, data flow diagram, or other meaningful method t hat defines the process require d to build the product or perform the service to satisfy the associated business need. 2. Ensuring that proposed processes, products, and/or services effectively integrate with or replace existing processes, products, and/or services to achieve an improved result.
Expectations/Obtain and continuously improve full proficiency in: ' Developing technical design specifications that are effective and efficient, and that are developed with maintainability, performance, portability, reliability, scalability, and security in mind. ' Performing functional and technical design reviews to ensure that designs meet requirements and maximize performance efficiency. ' Designing and developing functional, integration, regression, and stress test plans. ' Designing and documenting the installation and integration of software changes I enhancements, focusing on the functional implications. ' Designing software solutions that emphasize preventive versus corrective measures. ' Ensuring appropriate involvement of IT infrastructure staff when designing software solutions.
ENVIRONMENT The environment consists primarily of Windows based applications written in VB and VB .NET using Microsoft SQL server as the data repository. The employee can expect to work a typical work day but may be required to work after hours and occasional weekends performing maintenance and support duties. On occasion, the Programmer/Analyst will be expected to travel and assist other locations in providing support and services.
QUALIFICATIONS A 4-year degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or a similar discipline is preferred. Four or more years work experience in various aspects of software development. Must have previous Maximo experience. Experience in software development using VB, VB .NET, Microsoft SQL server in a Windows environment. Must be able to develop SQL queries, views, stored procedures and some database design work. Demonstrate an understanding of business operation and how technology can be used to improve the business. Ability to lead project teams and actively participate in team processes. Must be able to work in a pressure situation effectively and meet strict deadlines with high quality and structured results. Ability to collaborate and coordinate with colleagues is essential.
