Senior Communication Engineer

This position will be responsible for the engineering, implementation and operation of LAN and WAN technologies. Activities include designing and implementing network changes, monitoring network activity and performance, and performing normal operational activities for our internet facing environment. Perform IOS updates and configuration changes as needed to improve network stability, performance, and security. Implement HSRP and other high availability solutions to improve the resiliency of the network. Troubleshoot WAN/circuit issues and coordinate troubleshooting and resolution with circuit provider. Assist with the definition and administration of our network security policies and products.

Minimum five years support, implementation and design experience with Cisco ethernet LAN/WAN technologies. Load balancing experience with any of the following products required: Cisco CSS, Cisco ACE, f5 Big IP, Foundry Server Iron.

Excellent working knowledge required of Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls (ASA). Must have complete understanding of TCP/IP and other layer 3 protocols, and be able to create and manage subnets.

Experience with OSPF, HSRP and Cisco IOS required.

Must have working knowledge of network management and monitoring platforms such as HP Open View, Cisco Works, and EMC Smarts. In addition, working knowledge of network sniffer tools, and be able to analyze a network trace to identify performance and impairment issues required.
