Analytical Scientist Posting NC50105987
Position Description:
This hands on Analytical Scientist position will be responsible for performing analytical testing to support Ticona technical groups and other Celanese divisions.
This position targets 50% time spent working on solutions to complex projects/problems with impacting business results, as well as mentoring junior chemists. Primary functions include defining requirements to meet customer objectives, method development, setting up and performing analytical measurements on thermoplastics and complex chemical systems; providing technical data and support to R&D, Manufacturing, Celanese sister divisions, and external customers. In addition to above, A "hands on" position; requires the operations of a wide variety of analytical equipment, i.e., GPC, spectroscopy, GC, HPLC and operate safely in a wet lab environment.
Requirements
- MS or higher level of appliable eductation, PhD preferred
Hands on capability and interpretation skills for a wide variety of analytical techniques- prefereable chromatography
High comfort level with analytical instrumentation
Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret date and provide compete/thorough presentations/reports
Experience with engineering polymers or plastics
Ability to pro-actively design methods to meet customer needs
Effective communication - both verbal and written
Strong understanding and commitment to safe lab practice and chemical handling
Ability to organize, keep detailed documentation/records, and achieve timely, accurate results
Ability to make minor repairs to lab equipment
Ability work independently with minimal supervisionand be part of team
Must strive for continuous improvement
Must be energetic, self motivatedDesirable Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Experience with polymer synthesis - Rheology/Thermal analysis experience a plus
Outgas/volatile analysis experience a plus
Experience with Six Sigma methodology
Experience with ISO 17025; ISO TS16949 & audit requirements
Mentoring/coaching aptitude
+Demonstrated lab safety and chemical hygiene practices
5+ years experience with demonstrated track record
