We have an immediate need for a Telephonic Benefit Specialist to join our dynamic team!
Responsibilities:
Receive incoming claims from group administrators, agents/brokers, and any representative acting on behalf of the policy owner and/or claimant. Make outbound calls to assist with completion of the initial claims process. Adjudicate STD claims meeting certain duration guidelines according to policy provisions. Contact the policyholder, physician or claimant as needed to obtain or verify claim information. Provide excellent customer service on a variety incoming and outgoing inquires regarding benefits for STD, LTD and Life. Complete tasks assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
Education/Experience/Skills:
- College degree or equivalent work experience.
- Three to four years of experience in insurance industry and/or service industry strongly preferred.
- Able to read and correctly interpret a Short Term Disability contract.
- Requires multiple automated system skills, telephone skills and customer service skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, problem solve independently, and to meet deadlines.
- Medical terminology is strongly preferred.
- Completion of Group HIAA, LOMA, ICA and other industry courses are desirable.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
