Position Summary
Coordinates preparation of periodic financial statements, reports, account reconciliations, analyses, forecasts, internal control reviews and budgets. Ensures compliance to all internal and external policies, guidelines and laws.
Position Highlights
- Reporting directly to the Plant Controller, the Senior Accountant will be involved with many shop floor activities involving cost and inventory. A strong understanding of materials and inventory processes is needed. Supervisory skills are required.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting,and/or payroll
- Manages the monthly, quarterly, or annual WIP, raw material and finished goods inventory and ensure proper controls and practices are in place.
- Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures
- Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records
- Participates in cost analyses and rate studies
- Reconciles general ledger account activity
- Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues
- Conducts internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls
- Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems
- Participates in annual budget preparation and reconciliation
- Prepares external audit materials and external financial reporting
- Reviews financial statements with management personnel
- Directs the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls
- Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises one to three employees responsible for acquisition of parts, payroll processing, or inventory control. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance to the Company policies, the Code of Ethical Business Conduct and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; and two to four years related experience and/or training.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills required, JDE experience preferred
- Strong working knowledge of inventory practices and controls within a manufacturing environment is required. This includes managing product inventories, scrap, WIP, BOM, and cycle counts.
- Three years experience in a manufacturing accounting role.
Preferred Skills
- Ability to train/manage/lead/understand LEAN or CI activities and initiatives including Lean Accounting principals
