Summary of Position: Development Chemist
Â
Conducts experiments to produce new knowledge and potential products; conceives, organizes, promotes, and executes ideas and plans to increase chemistry's role in and contribution to the discovery and chemical approaches to meet exploratory objectives in product discovery. Develops proposals to provide a technically and economically sound basis for developing and evaluating new or improved products, synthetic methods, processes, and analytical and physical testing techniques. Recommends utilization of the results or changes in the scope of work or termination of projects.     Â

Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute lab experiments to develop new adhesive formulations     Â
- Prepare thermoplastic adhesive formulations by using mixing devices such as brabender mixers, Baker-Perkins (BP) mixers, and glascol heating mantles.
- Characterize new adhesives via analytical, mechanical, thermal and pilot coater.
- Assist in the implementation of new products and approaches by internally assisting on the scale up of new products and by communicating data and procedures as needed to the manufacturing locations.
- Troubleshoot and perform technical service for existing products when needed.

Minimum Requirements:
- BS degree in Chemistry is necessary
- 2+ years of lab experience desirable
- Must have the ability to carry out experiments independently
- Must have strong interest in polymer science or material science
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must have an excellent computer skills
- Must be able to travel 10%.Â
