Director, Network Engineering Strategies

General Summary:   

1. Responsible for building and managing the technical project/program management team/function for IT.
2. Ability to coordinate several technology departmental strategies into an overall comprehensive plan.
3. Ensures projects/programs are defined, tracked and communicated in a consistent and effective manner.
4. Must understand technical and operational impact of each project.
5. Must understand network engineering and/or microsoft engineering best practices.
6. Build credibility, establish rapport, and maintain communication with stakeholders at multiple levels, including those external to the organization.
7. Incorporates effective change and risk management controls. Partners with IT and business leadership and other key stakeholders to define opportunities, to identify and prioritize projects based on predefined criteria (return on investment, productivity, compliance).
8. Directs project/program managers during technical requirement development, evaluating technical solutions in conjunction with Architecture and Engineering.
9. Maintain continuous alignment of program scope with strategic business objectives, and make recommendations to modify the program to enhance effectiveness toward the business result or strategic intent.
10. Responsible for ensuring all projects within IT portfolios/programs are delivered on time, within budget and to an agreed quality level.
11. Must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in project/program management, portfolio management methodologies and tools.
12. Mentor Technical Project Managers in best practice project management methodologies.
13. Present periodic Dashboard reports on the current program(s), future opportunities, and business issues.

Requirements Minimum Requirements:
Education:  Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Business Administration, or other related field or equivalent work experience.
Experience:  10 to 15 years of network engineering and business/industry work experience, with at least 3 years of leadership experience and 5 years managing projects and/or project portfolios. Network troubleshooting and problem resolution experience required.
Job Related Skills: Senior level management with overall responsibility for the enterprise-wide project/program management practices. Accountable for on-time, within budget and quality delivery of all IT projects/programs. Directs and mentors a team of technical project managers and/or other technical staff.
Technical Skills: Cisco or F5 experience is strongly preferred including experience with network security.  Network Attached Storage (NAS) experience and Large WAN management experience a plus.  Microsoft Office Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel and MS Project is required.
Overall understanding of multiple infrastructure components and dependencies is essential for this role.
Certifications:  One of the following certifications is required: CISSP, MCSE, CCNA, RHCE
