Senior Applications Programmer with experience customizing COTS applications in a Windows environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position requires extensive experience with installing, configuring and customizing a COTS application that consists of multiple components including SQL Server, Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) and LDAP. The successful candidate will be responsible for customizing multiple Symantec Applications, primarily Symantec Security Expressions and Symantec Endpoint Protection. These products will be implemented on a large network consisting of over 400 sites and 20,000 workstations.

This position will also require developing a standard patch management program for a large government agency. This includes auditing of all patching levels and setting up patch management software packages such as HFNetChek Pro and Microsoft WSUS. Experience with administering Active Directory and Windows Servers 2003/2008 is required. Crystal Reports, Visual Basic Scripting and SMS/SCCM experience is a plus.

Conducts requirements analyses and preparation of program specifications. Recommends changes and additions as appropriate. Monitors program development to ensure integration with other applicable systems. Provides appropriate levels of security for sensitive data. Provides technical assistance, consultation, and briefings as required. Performs a variety of systems engineering tasks and activities independently, which are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems design and implementation, including hardware and software. Develops scripts and is responsible for ensuring proper execution of those scripts. Using software and hardware tools, monitors, tests, troubleshoots, and provides support on performance and access problems with local network, workstations (desktop/laptop, peripherals, etc.), software applications, and server systems, recommending repairs and changes as necessary.

Candidate will also ensure that all documentation on processes and procedures are available and updated regularly.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or minimum of five years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
