Description Within our Architectural Coatings business, we produce paints, stains, and specialty coatings under the PPG Pittsburgh® Paints, PPG Olympic® Paints and Stains, and PPG Porter® Paints brands, and service the North American coatings industry across three channels.  We operate 400+ retail stores, sell through over 2,000 dealer stores and supply product to large home improvement retailers, such as Lowe's.
 
Within our Sales channel we offer a wide range of architectural coatings and sundry items to industry, builders and contractors and have built strong customer loyalty based on exceptional product and excellent customer service. 
 
POSITION OVERVIEW
Are you an energetic sales representative with a gift for achieving sales targets and exceptional business results?  If you would enjoy the challenge of maintaining relationships with current customers, being responsible for your own territory, and achieving sales plan goals, than this may be the job for you!
 
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Sell PPG Architectural Coatings products across all major segments and distribution channels.
  • Provide excellent customer service in order to service and retain up to 400 customers in a specified territory.
  • In conjunction with Regional Sales Manager and Outside Sales Representatives, respond to customer needs, facilitate product recommendations, application and performance and color.
  • Develop a good understanding of the market, customers and segments serviced.
  • Work with PPG credit department to manage customer debt.
  • In conjunction with Regional Sales Manager or Outside Sales Representative, facilitate timely and accurate customer quotations.
 
REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have 1 to 3 years previous sales experience, preferably in the Coatings industry.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma, some college credits preferred.
  • Great follow up skills in order to respond to customers in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work well with diverse customers.
  • Ability to problem-solve - deal with customer complaints in a timely manner and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Must be able to speak persuasively using appropriate interpersonal styles to gain agreement.
  • Ability to calculate discounts and profit associated with selling price; to calculate commissions associated with territory performance; to take measurements and calculate surface area associated with making product volume estimates.
  • Ability to read and understand product data sheets, material safety data sheets, scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to analyze territory performance reports.
  • Ability to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and write technical reports to communicate the information.
  • Availability to work and travel within assigned territory 30% of time.  Periodic evening hours required for trade organization meetings and customer events.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and have maintained a motor vehicle record within acceptable limits as prescribed by PPG.
