Job Description:  POSITION PURPOSE: The Benefits Administrator position is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker’s compensation, life insurance, travel and accident plan, flexible spending plan, 401(k) plan and retirement plan). Provide excellent customer service and quality benefit plans. Involves frequent contact with employees and vendors, and a working knowledge of the benefits, policies, and procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION: Administers various employee benefit programs, such as group insurance, life, medical and dental, accident and disability, insurance, pensions, investments, and savings; and health maintenance organizations. Coordinate daily benefit processing of the following: oEnrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, 401k, distributions, loans, hardships, compliance testing. oOversee maintenance of employee benefit files and updating of employee payroll records. Document, and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefit processes. oGather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of administrative fees for all group plans. oDetermine proper course of action to resolve escalated customer service issues. Interpret plan procedures and policies. Position requires limited supervision and direction.Responsible for all policies and procedures as it relates to benefit administration. Coordinate benefit setup, deduction and compliance reporting issues in the HRIS systems.Implements new benefit programs; arranges and conducts employee information presentations and enrollments. Design and distribute materials for benefit orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions. Create and conduct presentations using audiovisual tools including power point and videos.Verifies the calculation of the monthly premiums statements for all group insurance policies and maintains data relative to premiums, claims, and costs. Resolves administrative problems with the carrier representatives. Design, recommend and implement benefit programs and examine possible plan design or benefit cost changes. Assist in the management of the benefit plan renewal process. Survey industry trends. Administer benefit surveys and review information obtained from the results. Analyze complex benefit information. Forecast trends and assist with future benefit designs. Develop specific recommendations for review by management. Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third party administrators. Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration. Work effectively to make sure the plans run smoothly. Investigate discrepancies and provide information in non-routine situations.Evaluate and revise internal processes to increase efficiency.Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Assure timeliness and accuracy of required filings. Implement and maintain Group Benefits databases and Ceridian benefit records. Prepare regular benefit reports extracting data from the database. Provide the technical support, test system functionality and work with end users to provide system support and troubleshoot system problems.Perform plan audits. Prepare, collect, and organize data for audits (401k, annual, etc). Provide customer service support to internal and external customers.Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company’s benefits package. Performs other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of company policies and procedures is preferred. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Three to five years related benefits or employee benefit administration experience required. PHR and/or CEBS professional designations preferred. Excellent communication and organization skills are required. Project management skills and experience. Capability of effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates. Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of benefit plan designs. Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in Ceridian a plus. Knowledge of benefit contract language.Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Workers Compensation, Medicare, and DOL requirements.
