Description Hebrew SeniorLife (HSL) is a 100+-year-old organization dedicated to providing seniors with the highest quality of life through an integrated network of health care, research, housing and teaching programs in the Greater Boston area. Our health-care network comprises Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, a long-term, sub-acute, and long-term medical acute care facility in Boston; three senior housing sites-Jack Satter House in Revere, Simon C. Fireman Community in Randolph, and Center Communities of Brookline; and Orchard Cove, a life-care community in Canton. The Institute for Aging Research in Boston, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, is one of the most prestigious aging research facilities in the country. HSL's NewBridge on the Charles, our premier multigenerational continuing care retirement community in Dedham, consists of 256 independent living units, 50 assisted living units, 41 memory support assisted living units, and a 268-bed Health Care Center, which offers long-term and sub-acute care. Hebrew SeniorLife also offers services to the community, including Adult Day Health programs and outpatient clinics in audiology, exercise, memory disorders, osteoporosis screening, and rehabilitation.


Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Hebrew Rehabilitation Center (HRC), the Director of Social Services is responsible for overseeing all activities and staff for the Social Services department and other departments reporting into the position. Will also be responsible for clinical supervision for social workers on long-term care, sub-acute and acute care units at HRC and social work interns. Act as a key member of interdisciplinary team responsible for the assessment and care planning process of residents and patients. Oversight of communications with resident family members that provide updates on resident well-being, address family concerns, orient families to HRC both pre and post admission, and assist in the resident's adjustment to HRC. Management of departmental budget and staff. Oversight of bi-lingual services program including program development, planning and implementation. Participate in pre admission process to facilitate psychosocial adjustment to placement. Responsible for discharge planning activities for long-term care units and post acute units. Participate in a variety of organizational committees and initiatives including Performance Improvement Committees, Policy and Procedure Committee, Family Forums. Maintain compliance with all federal and state regulations and assist in federal and state audits as necessary.

  • MSW with a minimum of 5-7 years related experience.
  • Must have LICSW.
  • A minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a LTC or sub-acute setting.
  • Strong understanding and familiarity with Jewish culture and tradition, experience in the provision of services to both the long-term and short-term resident population, staff management and superior customer service and communication skills are required.
