Description
Job Purpose:

The Merchandise Financial Analyst is responsible for providing data and analysis, primarily to the merchandise department. This position is responsible for assisting the merchandise department in identifying sales, gross margin and inventory management opportunities; and budgeting support.

Primary Duties:


  • Responds to analysis requests for the Merchandising Department (MD), Operations, and TSC executives.

  • Provides concise, accurate summation of data requested.

  • Assists in analysis of data along with options/potential solutions/actions

  • Provides support to the Merchandising team during the budgeting process.

  • Presents on topics such as inventory management, gross margin opportunities, product mix, TURN and GMROI.

  • Provides reporting, analysis, statistical, and demographic data to aid category management, assortment planning and test items.

  • Assists Buying teams in gross margin improvement including line reviews/price management/mix.

  • Provides reporting and support for Vendor level reporting

  • Weekly, monthly, and quarterly merchandising executive report packages:
    • Performance to plan, trends, forecasts, and projections.

    • Impact from key initiatives, from specific geographic areas or other.





Secondary Duties:


Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
Requirements
Education and Experience:

Bachelor�s degree from an accredited college or university in business, accounting, or related field; minimum 5 years related experience; retail experience preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

Essential Skills:


  • Demonstrate strong communication, leadership, analytical, and teambuilding skills.

  • Ability and proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Excel and Access Power user.

  • Report Building / Query Software proficient � Business Objects experience preferred

  • Ability to handle tasks and projects in a high energy environment.

  • Display detail-oriented approach to work, especially data entry and integrity.

  • Capable of documenting and testing controls over financial reporting.
  • Able to evaluate and recommend actions based on industry knowledge and research.



Working Conditions and Physical Demands:


Individuals in this position will encounter ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment as found in any typical office environment. Individuals may need to sit at a desk or table for long periods of time; to reach over shoulder heights; crouch or stoop below the waist; repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement; and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
