Description
This person oversees all aspects of IS Disaster Recovery Planning and Execution. They act as a resource on IS projects to ensure appropriate impact analysis is conducted, data recovery requirements are defined, and disaster recovery procedures are documented. They are responsible for leading the development and coordination of disaster simulation exercises; communicating the outcome, and updating procedures to support the resumption of critical systems. They will manage the development, implementation and maintenance of a Disaster Recovery Program to include disaster recovery planning, risk assessment, testing, awareness and training and ongoing process improvement.
Position Activities:
- This includes, but is not limited to:
- Coordinating the development, documentation, communication, testing, enforcement and maintenance of Disaster Recovery (DR) plans.
- Providing leadership and coordination for the entire recovery process during testing and real disasters, including the leadership and coordination of recovery teams during the process.
- Performing periodic gap analysis to ensure recovery plans are consistent with expectations, SLAs and OLAs.
- Recognizing and identifying potential areas where existing disaster recovery policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed
- Participate in the design/implementation of key operations processes to support Incident, Change, Problem and Release Management, document SOPs, OLAs and detail procedures.
- Providing metrics for analytical management reporting to help improve productivity and availability.
- Providing education, mentoring, guidance and thought leadership of DR plans, processes, and procedures.
- Maintaining a single point of DR contact for IT teams and business units.
Position Requirements:
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Expertise in planning, organizing and directing the testing of emergency response, recovery, and business resumption procedures.
- Experience in IT Network Operations or Data Center Operations or similar background, with a working technical knowledge of current systems software, hardware, and network standards at an architectural level.
- Proven ability to assume leadership role in a crisis event
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups through complex technical decisions and build consensus around technical direction.
- Expertise in performing risk analyses and impact analyses.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels within the company
- Excellent attention to detail.
- High level of analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to travel to data centers and recovery locations
- Ability to respond to disasters 24x7
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a virtual team
- Excellent project management skills.
Requirements
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or related discipline.
- 10 years of relevant IT experience
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in Business Continuity and/or Data Center Operations, Network Services or Platforms.
- 5+ years of contingency planning experience preferred
- Disaster Recovery International Institute or Business Continuity Institute certification or progress towards certification.
- ITIL certification preferred.
- Experience with Oracle, HPUX, Tuxedo, Citrix and AMDOCS highly preferred
- Competent with Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access and Microsoft Project.
