As a Sr. Business Data Analyst, you are a member of PNC's Requirements Information Architecture organization. You will be based in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Business/Data Analyst acts as a translator between client business needs and the development team. The Business/Data Analyst uses various methods to understand the client�s business collect business requirements for the project. The methods could include documentation review, one-on-one interviews, client meetings or JAD sessions. After gathering requirements, the Business/Data Analyst documents them for validation by the client. Following validation, the analyst will develop detailed specifications and data definitions for the ETL and EDM teams. Business/data analysts also support development and testing, to insure the business requirements are being met.

The technical domain of the Business/Data Analyst includes logical and physical data modeling, data profiling, source to target-staging mappings, and business and data quality rules.The Business/Data Analyst is also a proactive change agent promoting the business value of the project to clients and other stakeholders from the requirements phase through deployment.

Responsibilities:

Establishes the interviewing approach and coordinates the interviewing process. Interviews the business community to identify user requirements. Reviews existing documents that may contain requirements or background information. Documents requirements and assists in clarifying discrepancies in requirements. Prepares requirements documents and obtains appropriate approvals. Reviews, creates and or updates source system data models and business metadata definitions. Assists in the design and testing of the user interface.Creates and validates source to target-staging mappings. Participates in source data profiling activities, reviews documentation created by the assigned QA team. Analyze business and technology support processes using a standard risk assessment methodology, identify key risks, and escalate to the Project Lead. Validate that the business requirements are complete, consistent, concise, and achievable. Responsible for collaborating with the EIM and ETL designer to resolve gaps between the business requirements and ETL design specifications and ensuring these decisions are documented. Translates business requirements into a technical solution that can be implemented. Produces detailed ETL specifications consistent with the high-level ETL design specifications and Roadmap.
Proactive and diligent in identifying and communicating design and scope issues. Analyzes sources, staging-targets and defines data flows and dependencies in the staging area. Participates in Phase Exit control stages. Coordinates activities with data modelers and ETL developers to build the solution. Helps builds consensus around the data models and ETL solution with the client and developers. Participates in ETL system and integration testing, to insure business and data requirements are being met. Creates other technical deliverable artifacts needed (i.e. BDA Approach document) for project implementation.
