Description
The position of the Compliance Analyst is to investigate and or monitor money order or money transfer transactions that are identified by the application of MoneyGram's Business Rules and Transaction Filters:
1) To monitor agent or consumer compliance and to identify, analyze and report suspicious and/or unusual activity as required by anti-money laundering laws.
2) To monitor and identify the misuse of money orders or money transfers by agents or consumers and make audit recommendations to protect MGI from potential financial losses and/or heightened regulatory scrutiny.
3) To provide AML Compliance training to agents in order to gather additional compliance information or to support ongoing exams.
The Compliance Analyst may work cross-functionally with many areas including Sales, Risk, and Risk Recovery, Call Centers, Fraud, or other groups within AML Compliance.

Investigate MoneyGram transactions by utilizing internal databases and systems to identify unusual or suspicious activity, and to conduct regulatory reporting. Escalate unusual activity to other departments, as needed.

Conduct inbound and/or outbound phone calls with consumers or agents in order to obtain information necessary to ensure that transactions are legitimate and that they have been properly documented. Support agent needs through phone training and escalations to the Agent Review team.
10%
Analyze and document activity for the purposes of regulatory reporting.
5%
Work on other projects, as needed, in order to mitigate risk.
Skills and Experience Required:

- Education: HS GED required. B.A./B.S. in business, law enforcement, legal studies or a related field, or equivalent work experience in Financial Services, Law Enforcement, Banking or a related area preferred.
- Fluent bilingual communication skills (Preferred).
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with the Bank Secrecy Act, and money laundering laws, or fraud, investigations - gained in past financial services or banking environments (Required).
- Experience reviewing suspicious activity and submitting SAR reports (Preferred).
- Knowledge of high risk corridors such as HIFCA, HIDTA (Preferred).
- Attention to detail with an emphasis on identifying incorrect/mistyped data (Required).
- Proven strong written and verbal communication skills (Required).
- Minimum of 1 year of analytical experience evaluating risk based information from internal and external sources (Required).
- Capable of communicating effectively with a culturally diverse client base (Preferred)
- Experience building interpersonal and telephone communication skills demonstrated in a customer focused position (Required).
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast pace, highly structured, deadline driven culture (Required).
- Experience making independent work-related decisions based on company policies and procedures (Required).
- Proven ability to continuously learn about AML/Compliance in previous roles (Preferred).
- Fluent /bilingual communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a culturally diverse agent base (Preferred).
- Proficient in most Microsoft Office applications: Word, Access, Excel, Lexis Nexis, Mainframe, with strong emphasis on Excel (Preferred).
- Ability to identify when escalation is necessary (Required).
