Description ****Physician Assistant / Orthopedics****

Under the direction, supervision and responsibility of a physician, and in accordance with established policies, evaluates patient's health status through diagnostic procedures and tests. Provides therapeutic patient care under direction of a physician and in accordance with established protocols.

Interviews patients and compiles patient medical histories to assist in determination of health status.

Provides health education to patients about ways to improve, promote, and maintain their health status, including but not limited to providing educational information on disease/injuries, prevention of injuries and self-care practices.

Maintains accurate records, medication lists, and documentation of care and follow-up for administrative purposes and reimbursement of services.

Supervises and intervenes with clinical issues and supports/directs triage by clinical staff when necessary. Implements clinical education and training of clinical staff when necessary.

Adheres to the drug formulary used by the practice and hospital.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors Degree; Masters Preferred
Licensure/Certification:
NCCPA Certified or Graduate of an AMA accredited PA Program and Valid FL State Licensure and Current CPR Certification Required; PA-C Preferred
Completion of MRMC credentialing process is required prior to start date.

Experience:
Minimum two (2) years, postgraduate, experience in an orthopedic outpatient or inpatient practice.

Work requires six-to-twelve months on-the-job experience to obtain a comprehensive understanding of clinical and/or surgical procedures, patient care procedures, medical protocols and testing procedures.

Work requires analytical ability necessary to evaluate and determine health status of patient and implement proper care plan. Interpersonal skills necessary to interview, teach and counsel patients; instruct health care personnel on procedures and treatment.
