Position Overview: The financial aid counselor is a member of the cross-functional enrollment team comprised of admissions representatives, advisors and financial aid counselors. The financial aid counselor is responsible for providing information, advice and resources to the student to ensure an acceptable payment plan to cover their tuition. This includes pro-actively assisting prospective and current students with completing their financial aid within established deadlines and service levels. The financial aid counselor will maintain financial aid program integrity and compliance with State, Federal and accreditation regulations.
Reports to: Enrollment Manager
Compensation: Salaried
Schedule: Full-time, some evening hours required
Location: Regency Headquarters, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work cohesively with the area team Admissions Representatives and Advisors in order to facilitate outstanding service to prospective students and their parents.
- Conduct preliminary financial aid interview and complete questionnaires with potential students.
- Provide potential students and current students with accurate information regarding the application process and their estimated eligibility for State and/or Federal assistance or alternative financing.
- Review student finance applications/student loans for completeness and accuracy.
- Perform diligent follow-up on missing paperwork due from students to complete their files within established deadlines and service levels.
- Answer student questions regarding financial aid and billing
Requirements
Skills and Experience Required:
- One year of experience in customer service, or in a college/university financial aid office or mortgage processing role, preferably in a contact center environment
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively with students to reach performance goals
- Good organization, time management and multi tasking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Proficient with computers and typing skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required and the ability to learn customized programs quickly)
- Must not currently be in default on a federal student loan or owe a federal grant overpayment.
