Description

Position Description:

  • Responsible for the construction, troubleshooting, and testing of power electronic circuits for use in a wide range of power conversion products for Defense and high reliability industrial applications in the 100W to 100 KW range, including UPS's, inverters, rectifiers, power conditioners, and battery chargers.
  • Will be required to troubleshoot and test prototype equipment for both new and legacy designs of power conversion systems.
  • Will be required to check and update documents and to ensure that configuration management practices are strictly upheld during the prototype development phase.
  • Responsible for the care and safe use of lab and equipment resources.

 Position Requirements:

  • Individual must have good technical abilities, be a self starter, and a champion for his/her designs and products.
  • Thorough knowledge of and hands-on experience with power electronic systems' incorporating buck, boost, half bridge, full bridge, and inverter topologies is mandatory.
  • Some experience and fluency with testing DSP based Power Electronics control systems is required.
  • A technical background that includes a minimum two year formal training program in electronic is required.
  • Experience in using Texas Instruments 24xx and 28xx family of DSP controllers including RS-232, CANBUS and SNMP is required. Experience with using DSP monitoring and control software such as DSPmem is required.
  • Experience with the use of PWM controllers (UC2895), digital logic, analog signal processors, isolation amplifiers, PFC control IC's, A/D and D/A converters, and a wide assortment of power electronic devices is a requirement.
  • Experience with using a wide assortment of power electronic lab equipment such as Power Quality Analyzers, Digital Oscilloscopes, AC and DC power supplies, Diesel Generators, distribution and isolation transformers and variacs, and various load banks is required.
  • Experience with CANBUS J1939 communications, CANalyzer operation, Arena solutions PLM software, MS Office, ORCAD, PDF, and DSPmem software and asset.
  • Experience developing military products and familiarity with military specifications is required.
  • Must be familiar with hand tools and proper operation
  • Must be proficient in soldering and repairing surface mount PWB's, winding and testing magnetics, wire harness construction and testing, wire crimping, and component sourcing, procurement and management activities.
  • Must be experienced with MS Office applications
  • Must be capable of testing and troubleshooting the wide assortment of power electronic systems currently produced by the company.
  • An EPA 608 certification an asset
  • Must work well with others, have excellent communications skills both verbal and written
  • AS Degree preferred
