Ultra Electronics, ProLogic is a niche Battle Space IT company with core competencies in software development, system integration, and IT support. Our Production and Field Service Division is focused on assembly, testing, documentation, installation, and training of advanced communications systems for the Department of Defense.
We are seeking a
Systems Engineer to work as an On-Site Subject Matter Expert with our customer at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, AK. The main focus of this position is to support the government customer in operating and maintaining a Link 16 Tactical Data Link network of 16 remote ground entry point locations from a central facility. Equipment is managed via a windows-based computer system; however, extensive knowledge of military radios and cryptographic equipment is necessary. Incumbent will be required to travel to remote locations under extreme weather conditions to repair and maintain equipment racks. Incumbent will be required to manage a team of up to four individuals performing similar tasks. Position will entail potential shift-work hours, including nights and weekends, when required to support Homeland Defense mission.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent will report to the Ultra Electronics ProLogic Production and Field Services Division Manager, and be responsible for the following:
-Assist Government personnel in operating and maintaining Link 16 Alaska (LAK) network at Government facility
-Oversee other company employees performing similar functions
-Interact daily with Government representatives, including C2, Operations, Security, and Communications personnel
-Troubleshoot and report on system anomalies, including potential travel to repair remote location equipment
-Advise Government operators and maintainers on the use of Tactics, Techniques and Procedures
-Prepare Reports, as required
-Handle basic tools; read and understand Technical Orders and engineering drawings.
-Train government operators and maintainers, as required, to perform similar functions
Skills & Experience:
- Tactical Data Link Systems
- Basic knowledge in RF communications.
- Strong computer background.
- Experience with computer networking.
- Previous military background in Link-16, SADL, Joint Range Extension, Gateway Manager, and Tactical Data Links are a plus
- Understanding of T1 and Fractional T1, ISDN communication circuits are a plus
- Results-Driven, Initiative; “Can-do” Attitude, Customer-Focused
Education & Experience:
- B.S. degree in Computer Science or relevant discipline
- 3-5 years of experience with tactical data link communication systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements:
- Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Potential travel is up to 30%
- Ability to lift equipment up to 50lbs
