Telecommunications Systems Engineer

Description Systems Division provides select Government, commercial, and international customers value-added, total worldwide systems solutions for their air and missile defense, air traffic control, communications, command and control, range, spacelift, surveillance, and force protection needs, as well as full logistics support services for facilities and equipment.

The position entails defining user requirements, allocating requirements to solutions, assessing solution feasibility and adherence to requirements, performing alternative analysis and cost trade-offs, and working with telecommunications providers to develop cost-effective integrated solutions that meet customer needs. Extensive customer interaction will be required. The position requires a hands-on working knowledge of telecommunications and networks and all network appliances along with excellent written and oral communications skills.
' Work with users to completely and clearly define requirements.
' Design technical solutions that best satisfy the telecommunications and data networking requirements.
' Brief possible technical solutions to SENSOR managers and Government customers, and then make recommendations and justify those recommendations.
' Work with commercial telecommunications companies to install and configure networking appliances based on Telco vendor specifications to include: routers, switches, firewalls and WAN accelerators.
' Create and maintain documentation that accurately describes the completed solutions using charts, diagrams, tables and other methods to clearly illustrate the current configurations.
' Monitor the systems and then collect, manage, and brief to managers the metrics that best describe the health and performance of the system.
Travel will be required for the initial Site Survey and System installation and integration

Requirements Minimum: BS plus 3 yrs experience; MS plus 1 yrs experience
Must be computer proficient in Office Products
' Working knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.
' CCNA, or proof of equivalent knowledge/experience is required. CCNP is preferred.
' Must have a minimum of Network + or Security + to meet DoD 8570.1 requirement.
' Knowledge of Juniper WAN Accelerators, Cisco Routers, switches and ASA Firewalls
' Must have extensive knowledge of, and be able to design Wide and Local Area Networks
' Must demonstrate knowledge of Red/Black engineering and installation requirements
' Must be experienced in Tier 1 encryption devices for installations and operations
' Understand the differences and when to use various types of commercial communications lines: T1, T3, OC3, etc.
' Hands on experience with both hardware and software used in data networks and telecommunications
Minimum: Must be a US citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required; may be
required to obtain an interim clearance within 6 months of document submittal.
