~CB~ Position Summary: The Wound Certified Nurse functions as a coordinator, facilitator and provider of care to patients with wounds, drains, pressure and stasis ulcers. The role of the Wound certified nurse encompasses educator, consultant, researcher, manager and patient advocate. Responsibilities include performing all aspects of the nursing process as related to wound management. The nurse acts as a patient advocate in meeting the patient’s needs during the homecare experience and provides for the privacy and confidentiality of patient information. Responsibility for education of the patient and/or family and other staff members is a major focus of the wound certified nurse. As a professional, assumes the role to assist in the development of new staff nurses and the future development of the nursing profession. Follows Agency Policies and the New Jersey Nurse Practice Act.
Recruitment Requirements: Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing. Registered Nurse Licensed in the State of New Jersey. Bachelors Degree preferred. Accredited by a certified wound school. 2 years of recent home care experience including extensive wound management preferred. CPR Certified. Ability to work flexible hours, and meet weekend, holiday and NOC requirements. Current IV, and venipuncture experience preferred. Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance.
