Transportation Planner for Mid Size Company

3 positions are available!!!! 2 Positions are 2nd shift 11am to 8pm and 1 Position is Weekends only - Thursday thru Sunday, hours will vary. Plus a 4th bilingual Spanish position. Our client in Auburn Hills is seeking a Transportation Planner.

This position is responsible for making modal and carrier selections for all customer orders. This position is also responsible for order entry; web, EDI, and manual; as well as track and trace of all shipments including LTL, Expedite, Truckload, and Air Charter and customer updates. Load Planning requires knowledge of rating structure for Truckload, carrier rate negotiation skills, and understanding of all modes of transportation.

Essential Functions:
• Choose low-cost mode and carrier following customer-specific routing instructions and/or routing guides. Must be able to negotiate rates effectively with non-contracted carriers.
• Sending/Receiving Spot Buys
• Track and Trace of all shipments within time frame required.
• Identify complex move opportunities such as truckload multi-stops and pooling moves and communicating these to support teams; engineering or procurement.
• Coordinate & expedite requests, time-specific pickups and deliveries and other special requests.
• Documenting all information per shipment request in LMS - requirements for this will be provided.
• Daily interaction with internal and external customer is required.
• Understanding Customer requirements for each account - requirements for this will be provided.

Essential Skills and Experience Required:
• Understanding of Transportation Operations and Supply Chain Management.
• Strong organizational and time management skills; specifically documentation of all issues, communication with customers and carriers.
• Strong systems aptitude and must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis on Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Previous experience in Transportation preferred.
• Some college preferred
