We invite applications for the position of
Sales Tax Analyst. As a Sales Tax Analyst for Hill's Pet Nutrition, you will ensure proper compliance in Sales and Use tax and be responsible for the accumulation, reconciliation of data and the timely and accurate preparation of all sales and use tax returns for all Hill's U.S. legal entities. The position is also responsible for customer support and response relating to sales tax issues.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Coordinate and review the preparation and filing of all sales and use tax returns.
- Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of the Sales and Use Tax accrual accounts.
- Responsible for maintaining the tax logic matrix for use tax decisions in the EBP/SAP purchasing environment which interfaces with the Taxware system for calculating any use tax liabilities.
- Coordinate the scheduling, preparation and management of all sales and use tax audits.
- Responsible for tax research related to sales and use tax in order to properly respond to changes in laws and regulations.
- Assembly and communication of sales and use tax guidelines and policies to the company to ensure proper compliance and to reduce potential sales and use tax liabilities under audit.
- Ensure that special sales and use tax software systems are correctly configured and performing as required to satisfy various state's laws.
- Ensure customer accounts are properly identified and classified regarding taxable status on purchases of products from Hill's.
- Ensure customer tax exemption/resale certificates are correctly completed and on file as required by the laws in each state.
- Coordinate the calculation and issuance of sales tax credits to customer accounts when necessary.
- Other projects related to the accounting or reporting of sales and use tax related data.
- Other financial or tax related projects or duties that may be assigned.
- Support other Tax Department members as required to meet the goals and objectives of the department
