Bioinformatician / Senior Associate to support our National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR) client in Jefferson, Arkansas. The National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), FDA's internationally recognized research center, plays a critical role in the FDA's mission. NCTR-in partnership with researchers from elsewhere in FDA, other government agencies, academia, and industry-provides innovative technology, methods development, vital scientific training, and technical expertise. The unique scientific expertise of NCTR is critical in supporting FDA product centers and their regulatory roles. This is an opportunity to join a world-class research team at the FDA's National Center for Toxicological Research. The team is on the cutting edge in developing methods and software for analyzing and interpreting biological data for modern biotechnology.
The Bioinformatician will be responsible for:
- Analyzing DNA microarray, proteomic, metabonomic, genetic, and in vitro and in vivo experimental data using both commercial and locally-developed software.
- Independently collaborate with FDA researchers using data mining, machine learning, statistical, chemoinformatics, and classification methods to develop predictive models of biological phenomena.
Experience Required:- A solid background in biology and molecular biology.
- Experience in scientific programming in C+ and Java and database design and administration would be beneficial.
Education Required: Ph.D. in bioinformatics, biomedical engineering, chemistry, computational chemistry, computational biology, biostatistics, systems biology, or a related discipline, with an orientation to bioinformatics and "omics" data analyses.
