The Software Design Engineer will be responsible for implementing a large-scale improvement in the company's existing relational model database server code base to improve the security and quality of it's next major release. The product delivers on the company's data platform vision by helping organizations manage any data, any place, any time; security is an essential component of that vision. The major deliverable is a large-scale overhaul to improve existing code annotation. The SDE will work with the security team and each major product unit to meet this goal in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.

Major Activities include:

• Annotating the code base to enhance the effectiveness of existing static analysis tools
  
• Working with product units to understand issues identified by the static analysis tools and take appropriate action

Required Skills for this Software Design Engineer position includes the following:

• 4+ years of commercial software development experience
  
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field (Master's degree preferred and may substitute for up to 2 years of experience)
  
• C++ experience
  
• Solid understanding of security problems, such as buffer and integer overflows, and general memory corruption
  
• Experience with static analysis tools highly desirable
  
• Strong communication skills
