Description POSITION SUMMARY (includes, but is not limited to):The Sterile Processing Technician functions under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs delegated functions. Assumes responsibility for the decontamination of equipment and surgical instruments, assembly of surgical instrumentation and proper use of gas and steam sterilizers. Observes Universal Precautions and practices correct procedures for personal protection and the prevention of cross contamination of sterile instrumentation. Follows hospital and nursing service policies, protocols and procedures in the completion of duties. Completes a competency skills checklist within 3 months of employment.

Requirements Education:Graduate from high school or equivalent program; a high level of math and reasoning is required. Graduate from an accredited Sterile Processing Technician or SurgicalTechnician program preferred. License:N/A Experience:One year experience in sterile processing or as a scrub technician preferred.
