POSITION SUMMARY

Develop, manage, and support operations through the Manufacturing Engineering Department.


SCOPE OF POSITION

The position reports to the Manufacturing Engineer Manager. Position involves a high degree of interface with all departments and plants. Tasks range from simple to complex. Organization, follow through and communication skills are important factors in daily administration of this position. The incumbent will be expected to work independently using technical judgment and overall knowledge of Precor's mission and strategies. The incumbent will also participate on cross functional teams involving members of other departments.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

General Responsibilities:


  • Cost reductions

  • Support production operations

  • Develop and maintain Industrial engineering standards, technical manning plan, MTM, and line balance

  • Manufacturing practices and procedure system

  • Support document control system

  • Write and maintain work instructions through document control system.

  • Process safety and ergonomics

  • Support job rating system


Specific Responsibilities:


  • Manufacturing standards through technical manning plan

  • Update routings on a ongoing basis

  • Provide industrial engineering support to department personnel

  • Measures work, improves work methods and maintains standards using MTM-1, MTM-UAS, Time Study, and Work Sampling Study.

  • Evaluates manufacturing systems using Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Utilization and Capacity calculations.

  • Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.

  • Maintains accurate facility layouts.

  • Designs, implements and improves material handling systems in support of lean manufacturing principles using analysis techniques (Process Flowcharting and Simplified Handling Analysis).

  • Evaluates alternatives using principles of Engineering Economy.

  • Designs, evaluates and improves ergonomics of manual jobs.

  • Acts as participant, facilitator or leader of cross-functional teams.

  • Incorporates Lean Manufacturing principles in all areas of responsibility.

  • Performs computer simulations of manufacturing processes.

  • Approves or issues specifications for packaging from vendors

  • Safety

  • Supports objectives of maintaining a world-class safety program, covering all aspects of OSHA/CALOSHA worker and workplace issues.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job, will be considered.


EDUCATIONAL


  • B.S. Industrial Engineering from accredited 4-year college required.


PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE:


  • Minimum 5+ years in a manufacturing environment.

  • Manufacturing methods, problem solving, team building/leading, MTM, line balancing, simulation, capacity determination.

  • Statistics, drafting/CAD, ergonomics, material handling, problem solving, team building/leading, decision analysis, cost analysis, risk management, project management, operations research, metrology, OSHA standards

  • Machines, Tools Equipment (Office and Industrial), Software:

  • Computers, MTM, MS Office, SAP, simulation packages, AutoCAD, Visio, Linear Programming
