Description
Our client is looking for a proven Assistant Controller to lead a diverse staff to success. This is a key role with the opportunity to work closely with the Controller and CFO and involvement in an entrepreneurial, growing organization.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Manage the core groups of the Accounting department on a day to day basis, working directly with the Corporate Controller to ensure that the department is operating efficiently and effectively at all times.
Ownership of the overall monthly closing process, directing the various groups within the team in order to achieve the targeted goals.
Develop the technical accounting skill-sets to be able to assist with complex accounting issues that may arise in various areas of the financial statements.
Implement and improve financial controls, policies, and procedures by tracking compliance with policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of integrity in the company's financial systems. Assists in coordinating audit function with external auditors.
Build a world-class finance organization through selection, training, leadership and mentoring by setting clear direction for team and provide support to ensure outstanding results are achieved, and supporting a culture of employee pro-activity, accountability and results-orientation.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field from an accredited college or university is required.
CPA preferred
Experience and Requirements:
Minimum 5 years experience in accounting and supervisory capacity.
Minimum 3-5 years in an automated financial and accounting systems environment. Public Accounting experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of finance, accounting budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Organize work in an effective and efficient manner; anticipate needs/problems.
Ability to comfortably work in an intensely deadline-oriented environment
The demonstrated ability to successfully lead, direct and develop a diverse group of employees is essential in this position
Ability to work independently and thrive in fast paced environment
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities
Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
Express and write ideas in a simple and straightforward manner
Maintain open communications sharing relevant information with management and peers
Maintain teamwork with other job departments and promote policies and standards set forth by them
Willing to try new approaches
Proven leadership, project management, analytical skills
Show foresight in recognizing problems and taking action to correct.
