Elk Grove Village, Illinois (35,000 pop/100,000 daytime) is seeking to fill the newly created position of Deputy Director of Infrastructure. The Deputy will provide administrative management support and direct supervision of the Infrastructure Division which includes the Streets, Land & Forestry, Signs & Markings, and Fleet activities, and will serve as the Department’s snow commander. Candidate will have a knowledge of street maintenance including MFT procedures and regulations, snow and ice control operations, and the maintenance of automotive and heavy equipment systems. They must demonstrate a customer service-oriented management approach in dealing with the public, the ability to supervise and administer personnel problems fairly and firmly, and fosters open and honest communication, teamwork, and constant improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of work results.

Requirements The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or public administration. In addition, the candidate must have 6 years of progressively responsible experience in a professional public works department including several years of supervisory experience. The candidate must understand the functions of the various public works operations, and must have experience in working in a unionized environment. The salary range for the position is $83,886 to $114,753 and is subject to adjustment on May 1, 2010.
