Role Summary/Purpose
The IT Asset Management Technical Engineer serves as key service delivery expert for end-user PC client image development services, under direction of the Client Platforms Service Leader. In this role you will provide direct liaison with end users and with business client team leaders to define and implement automated solutions for unique, one-of-a-kind situations. You will also evaluate and recommend unique hardware configurations.

Essential Responsibilities

Define special hardware / software requirements, capacities, capabilities, etc. to meet user needs while adhering to GE technical standards

Coordinate technical implementation of Unicenter Asset Portfolio Management (UAPM) for OneGE ITAM service offering

Work closely with UAPM business leaders across GE to ensure consistent technical implementations across the company

Management and coordination of UAPM data dictionary for GE – requires hardware / software research and data management processes. Maintain translation tables of software signatures to software titles

Develop and maintain technical documentation for UAPM including disaster recovery, patching, SOPs for offshore support

Maintenance of UAPM software – coordinate patching, database maintenance, etc.

ADT script development / maintenance or other ETL experience

UAPM system administration – security, access, training

Develop / Maintain UAPM reporting dashboard to assist OneGE ITAM service businesses with visibility to their asset lifecycle analysis for asset optimization

Technical expertise in Desktop and Server Management (DSM) Administration. Activities include CA DSM patching, agent administration and patching, agent troubleshooting, implementing CA security/permissions, etc.

Agent troubleshooting, including agent health remediation to ensure 100% ITAM-managed clients

Coordinate changing DSM environment per business climate. Install / patch DSM servers, move clients, manage patching and reporting through business cycles

Review of DSM asset information to ensure data accuracy for reporting

Develop / maintain custom asset management scripts, (VB / DSM scripting) testing, coordination of script population throughout GE

Develop / maintain of asset management reports per business requests

Create / maintain CA query groups for software distributions and reporting. Requires knowledge of DSM asset data collection and basic SQL query creation. Handle software catalog data requests as required

Stage and manage software distributions in OneGE environment. From technical configuration within CA to ensuring business control processes have been followed

Assist business leaders and application owners to develop robust, staggered rollout plans for maximum penetration at minimum impact to client base

Provide software distribution reporting to application owners. Analyze / troubleshoot job containers to manage penetration

Participate in PC Health Service distributions monthly. Follow documented distribution process with PCHS team to distribute patch updates to the OneGE ITAM clients

Troubleshoot software signatures and work with GE businesses and CA to troubleshoot discrepancies in software signature reporting

Develop strategy for additional asset tracking – ie servers, PDAs, network equipment – expansions beyond the PC client base

Qualifications/Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience in CA Unicenter UAM / USD, DSM, UAPM / Argis, ADT scripting, Asset Intelligence

Minimum of 3 years of experience in SQL, VB or other Scripting

Minimum of 3 years of experience in Microsoft Active Directory, especially object management using Group Policies

Minimum of 3 years of experience in SQL 2000 / 2005

Minimum of 3 years of experience with Windows OS knowledge, including Microsoft Windows XPELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act

You must be willing to work out of an office in Visteon Village, Wayne County, Van Buren Township (near Ann Arbor / Detroit)

Desired Characteristics

BS degree in Computer Science, other technical discipline or equivalent work experience

Software package distribution experience

Asset lifecycle process experience

Enterprise desktop development and design knowledge preferred

Basic understanding of MS SQL databases

Demonstrated success in working directly with internal customers, vendors and leading cross-functional teams

Experience gathering and translating business needs into managed, supportable technical solutions

Demonstrated success in understanding, diagnosing, and resolving escalated issues related to Windows OS, PC Client or client management environment

Strong team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources

Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer; builds strong customer relationships and creates processes with customer viewpoint

Strong analytical skills – strong problem solving skills, communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions; anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve.

Change oriented – actively generates process improvements; supports and drives change, and confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways
