Description Function:  Responsible for supervising 4-6 direct reports.  This can include Claim Adjusters as well as Claim Supervisors/Managers.  The position is responsible to ensure claims are promptly and properly assigned, investigated and resolved, with the appropriate level of customer service.  Responsibilities also include file reviews, reserve audits, and coaching/training/mentoring of direct reports and the entire unit, and special projects directed towards improvement of the claims operation. 
 
Duties: 
 
  • File assignment process                                                          
  • Review files for coverage and liability issues/decisions                      
  • Interview candidates for Supervisor or Claims Rep positions 
  • Training and direction of Claims Reps and Supervisors/Managers      
  • Complete & Administer Performance Evaluations      
  • Evaluate files for settlement authority                        
  • Occasional hands-on claims handling                         
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Assure compliance with company requirements and state/federal regulations

  • Effectively support employee development
  • Assure staff performance meets or exceeds established targets 
     
    Qualifications: 
     
    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
    • Adjuster’s Licenses for the state(s) being overseen
    • Strong working knowledge of the Automobile Policy
    • 5 years experience handling liability, physical damage and bodily injury claims
    • 3 years supervisory/management experience (experience supervising supervisors/managers is a plus)
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Organizational and time management skills
    • Proficiency with computers
    • Experience appraising material damage and/or working with repair facilities
    • Ability to effectively use MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Basic math skills
