Professional Liability Underwriter (Med Liability)

Description Underwrite and control various classes of business in
assigned territory to include reviewing, analyzing, accepting and
declining risks for company profitability. Develop forms and
coverages and coordinate with other departments as necessary.
Communicate with management on individual accounts, current and
proposed producers and make recommendations concerning operations,
system and procedures. Underwrite and select new business that will
produce an underwriting profit for the company. Review submissions
and identify exposure and risk from information provided. Determine
terms, conditions and pricing. Underwrite renewal business and
handle related servicing. Implement corrective measures on renewal
accounts. Monitor system and procedures within the department.
Provide training and/or technical assistance to department
underwriting staff. Maintain relationships within various
facultative reinsurance markets. Communicate and coordinate
pertinent information with other departments. Participate in audits
and/or underwriting meetings.

Requirements Minimum 5 years underwriting experience to include
surplus lines. Bachelor degree and/or CPCU or similar. Must have
excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be PC literate
with emphasis on Word, strong analytical and organizational skills,
available for local entertainment of producers, reinsures and
auditors. Must be available for up to 25% travel depending on market
trends or as necessary.
