Description

The Service Truck Mechanic is responsible for making repairs to tractor-trailers at various locations throughout Central Illinois (Shelbyville, Mattoon, Effingham, etc). 


Responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshoot and repair trailers and tractors

  • Work with dispatch to organize and perform all work assigned each day

  • Perform pre-trip inspection and inventory stock of service truck prior to leaving facility

  • Complete all necessary paperwork and service orders

  • Work in a safe manner

 

Requirements
  • Trade/ Technical School certificate along with High School diploma
  • Valid Driver’s license, CDL Class A preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience repairing tractor-trailers. 
  • Experience in repairing the body of the trailer, lights, air system, brakes and undercarriage, crossmembers, landing gear, roof sections, door replacement and sectioning, ICC bumpers, tires, wheels, top rails, nose rails, electrical, valves, mud flaps, break chambers and minor tractor repair.
  • Must provide own common tools, including the following:  Socket set, Pliers, Vise Grips, Screwdrivers, Wrenches, Hammers, Welding Helmet, Hand Riveter (manual), Impact Gun (1/2" drive), Air Drill, Air Hammer with Fittings, Die Grinder, 1" Drive Socket (33mm), 1" Drive Budd Wheel Socket, 1" Drive Budd Wheel Adapter, Creeper Seat, 2-way Air Chuck, Tire Depth Gauge, Steel Toe Boots and Light Tester.
  • Strong mechanical skills required
  • Ability to read and analyze various reports
  • Ability to work primarily outdoors in all types of weather
