Requirements
Job Description
The Van Driver performs a variety of direct patient care activities including: assisting and accompanying all patients who are transferred to and from the facility via the facility van, and assisting in maintenance when the van activities are complete. This position provides direct patient care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
License or Certification:
Valid Class B or Class C, CDL Driver's License as required by state and acceptable driving record according to company policy
Current CPR and First Aid Certification
Total Education, Vocational Training and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required
Previous transportation experience preferred
Must be 25 years of age
Machines, Equipment Used:
General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer.
Physical Requirements:
Good visual acuity and ability to communicate
Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds and may require pushing, pulling and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl, reach, grasp, and use fine finger movement
Ability to demonstrate safe retrieval skills from above head to floor level with objects up to ten pounds
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English.
Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner
Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and verbal arenas as well as via email.
Ability to work independently without supervision.
Environmental Conditions:
Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. Occasional outdoor exposure
Exposure or potential exposure to blood and body fluids may be required.
Handicapped accessibility.
May work under stressful circumstances at times.
Proficiency or Productivity Standards:
May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines.
May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.
Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e. before, during or after a disaster.
May be required to stay after workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives.
Regular attendance and reporting on time to work is a requirement of position.
