Job Description

Our Dallas oil and gas client is looking to hire a Procurement Specialist to join thier growing team.   PURPOSE 

 

Leads and participates in the formulation of sourcing strategies and negotiation of pricing, delivery and terms for complex goods and services. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

 

1.     Negotiates, executes and manages strategic procurement actions in support of oil and gas drilling programs, including fleet vehicles.

2.     Negotiates and finalizes purchase agreements in accordance with internal policies and procedures. 

3.     Responsible for all issues affecting procurements, deliveries, quality and pricing and terms. 

4.     Develop and manage procurement procedures and processes

5.     Supports the operating requirements managing demand and distribution. 

6.     Develops and maintains ongoing vendor relationships insuring effective issue resolution.

7.     Assesses and prioritizes project requirements and resource needs. 

8.     Interacts with operations and accounting staff.

9.     Monitor monthly procurement key performance indicators

10.  Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.

1.     Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education, Training and/or Experience

 

Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, logistics/inventory control or comparable.  At least 7 years related work experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

 

1.     Experience dealing with contractors and suppliers.

2.     Knowledge of purchasing laws and practices.

3.     Familiar with oil and gas with knowledge of drilling and related materials. 

4.     Sound understanding of procurement principles and negotiation techniques and strategies.

5.     Basic knowledge of job specific applications in materials management, corporate finance and accounting. 

6.     High degree of integrity; highly ethical.

7.     Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

8.     Ability to prioritize multiple projects.

9.     High degree of initiative and independent judgment.

10.  Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.

11.  Strong attention to detail; ability to perform duties with a high level of accuracy.

12.  Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.

13.  Strong personal computer skills.

14.  Strong oral and written communication skills. 

 

 

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

 

Certified Purchasing Manager certification is beneficial.

 

Must be familiar with oil and gas drilling and materials; mid stream experience is required. 

 

Requires some travel (25%) to field locations within and outside Appalachian Basin, field office visits, meetings or training seminars.

 

May require availability for extended and weekend hours during peak periods.
