Special Care Nursery Manager (RN) 

   

Job Summary:

 

The Special Care Nursery Manager (Level II Nursery) is responsible for the effective implementation of nursing operations for assigned unit(s). Effects departmental outcomes through interpretation, implementation, and evaluation of hospital and departmental outcomes philosophy, policies, and procedures. Facilitates intra- and interdepartmental communication and collaboration to promote excellence in patient care and enhance patient outcomes. Effectively manages utilization of staff and material resources so that the most therapeutically effective patient care is provided in a cost-effective manner. Promotes the professional development of the patient care staff assigned to the unit(s).

 

Requirements

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Masters degree is preferred.
  • Five (5) years minimum experience as a Registered Nurse, required.
  • Two (2) years demonstrated leadership and management skills (decision making, problem solving, delegation, prioritizing) and/or supervisory experience are required.
     

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or Nurse Compact State.
  • BLS required
  • ACLS required

   

Job Knowledge/Skills:

·         Managerial technical skills; budgets, financial, computer skills, MediTech experience (preferably)

·         Ability to deal with conflict, issues, high levels of stress

·         Hands-on willingness and ability to work with Level II acuity babies

·         Passion for the role itself; nursing, working in a newborn care unit

·         Compassion for the role and team members

·         Ability to recognize potential conflict and develop resolutions for team members

·         Ability to distribute corrective action appropriately as needed
