Summary – Market Sector Manager:

Michael Baker Jr., Inc. (a division of Michael Baker Corporation) a leading professional services firm consistently ranked among the top 50 national design firms (ENR 2008) seeks a Market Sector Manager (MSM) to join our growing Rail/Transit (R/T) Practice. The position could be located in our Philadelphia, Newark, Manhattan, or Chicago offices.

Responsibilities - Market Sector Manager :

  • Overall execution & success of Baker’s R/T services program as measured by year-over-year Revenue & NWA growth.
  • Management of a dedicated operational budget, including allocation for strategic and/or high-level tactical Business Development actions.
  • Membership in relevant Industry Associations (APTA and AREMA) as well as maintaining affiliations with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
  • Providing leadership to position Baker to capture large R/T projects/programs by teaming with appropriate teaming partners to facilitate expansion of Baker’s R/T services.
  • Collaboration with other MSMs and Client Relationship Managers (CRMs) to expand Baker’s NWA & growth goals by working across multiple disciplines, geographies, and offices.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of Procurement Processes & Regulatory Requirements for major rail and transit clients nationwide.
  • Must be able to manage financial requirements with Oracle-based accounting system.

Requirements - Market Sector Manager :

  • Qualified candidates would have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Marketing or Business with greater than 20 years appropriate R/T experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a Business Development (BD) staff, performing within budgeted resources, achieving NWA goals, and year-over-year R/T program growth is required.
  • The MSM should have extensive experience with marketing and design within the R/T engineering industry including a proven track record of growing a national R/T practice area.
  • The MSM will also provide Overall Leadership for the R/T Marketing Program by working closely with Office Principals and Project Managers to support the execution of work as well as serving as a Senior Advisor to the client and internal Baker staff.
