Yoh has an opening for a Corporate Communications Specialist to join our customer in Boston, MA. This is a contract to hire opening.
Job Duties:
- The primary focus of the Corporate Communications Specialist is on facilitating internal communication activities across all locations, as well as providing effective support to the external communication efforts and initiatives.
- Emphasis is on coordinating employee communications activities through: local activities committee functions; and employee meetings and functions.
- Provide implementation of a comprehensive internal communications plan, with direction from the Corporate Communications Manager, designed to engage employees in dialogue and inform them across all global sites, about relevant company, site-specific, and industry information.
- Provide execution support for Corporate Communications departmental needs and initiatives that assist with the furthering of the business
- Collaborate with various departments globally to executive internal and external communications initiatives in order to accomplish the organization’s goals and objectives
- Enhance the image of the company as a good corporate citizen in the local Lexington and Cambridge, MA, communities by interacting with a wide range of external constituencies including nonprofit and philanthropic organizations, in order to further the community relations objectives of the business, in line with the Community strategy and plan
- Be a member of the Activities Committee and ensure effective execution of related activities at all Massachusetts locations
- Ensure representation in global company publications, such as intranet, newsletters, website, and various publications – act as content author for corporate content
- Provide implementation support of company-wide and executive level communications (including some writing of basic materials), such as emails, letters, and presentations as directed by the Corporate Communications Manager
- Coordinate the details of functions, such as ordering catering services, sending regional and global emails on behalf of the department, and tracking RSVPs
- Travel between various sites (Lexington, Cambridge, and Alewife), in order to ensure Corporate Communications presence
- Manage travel, expenses, raising of purchase orders and meeting arrangements for Corporate Communications Manager
- Liaison with vendors (design agencies, catering companies etc)
- College degree in journalism, English, marketing, or public relations.
- Three years experience with internal communications, public relations, journalism, or related field.
- Two years experience working in a corporate environment.
- Some experience working with a global organization desired but not required.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (including the ability to write effectively).
- Ability to work well with all levels of employees, demonstrating strong team work and partnering skills.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and independence in carrying out multiple tasks, as well as strong critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Some experience of submitting content to websites and/or intranets
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise judgment and discretion
- Attention to detail and the ability to meet the changing demands of a new, growing department and organization is critical
