Construction Positions- Federal Experience Required

Job Description

HAL HAYS CONSTRUCTION, INC., an award winning General & Civil Construction firm located in Riverside, CA has career opportunities for qualified Construction Project Managers, Superintendents, Construction Qualty Control Managers and Site Safety & Health Officers to work on Federal Government (Military) construction projects in the Southern California area.

Job Requirements

Project Manager

  • Preferable BA in related PM field
  • DOD Construction Quality Control certification
  • PMI or similar certification
  • Min. 3-5 years construction project management program experience preferably on Federal jobs working with the USACOE and NAVFAC
  • Must have on site construction experience
  • Experienced in DOD project protocols
  • Must have a working knowledge of structural, mechanical, and electrical civil and building practices and concepts, excellent working knowledge of current building regulations, laws, and rules
  • Must be confident in directing and coordinating staff, sub contractors and consultants, organized, have ability to make independent decisions, ability to multi-task and ability to delegate
  • Understanding of USACE EM-385 Safety and Health Manual
  • Organize and direct all construction activities, provide all direction required to avoid project problems, mentor and train staff
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to report via VPN (Internet)

Superintendent

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years documented Construction experience working in the capacity of Superintendent in the Federal Contracting arena (Army Corp, Navy, BOR, BLM, Nat. Park Services, etc.)
  • Must be knowledgeable in general building and civil construction
  • Must be able to problem solve - ability to identify and resolve problems in a time manner; gather and  analyze information skillfully, develop alternative solutions, work well in group problem solving situations
  • Requires OSHA 30 certification
  • Construction Quality Control Certificate and experience with QC/RMS desired
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office

Quality Control Manager

  • Must have an active US Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors certificate
  • Must have experience working with the USACE and/or NAVFAC
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and QC-RMS
  • Ability to travel to various job sites preferred

Site Safety & Health Officer

  • 3-5 years site safety experience in Federal Military projects
  • OSHA 500 Trainer preferred
  • OSHA 30 Hour Certificate Required
  • HAZWOPER Certification desired Construction background - Ability to understand, interpret and apply regulatory requirements applicable to the project scope of work
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and knowledge of EM 385-1-1
  • Ability to communicate effectively safety procedures (safety toolbox topic, meetings, etc.)
  • Must be detail-oriented, and have analytical ability
  • First-aid/CPR Certified, experience with heavy equipment and other construction specific certifications (i.e., scaffolding, trenching, excavation)
