Rexnord Aerospace is a growing and profitable company supplying engineered high performance bearings and mechanical seals to the commercial air transport, regional aircraft, business aircraft, helicopter and military aircraft markets for use in engine systems, flight control systems, airframe structures and landing gear systems.  Our aerospace bearing and seal products consist of rolling element airframe bearings and bearing tooling sold under the Shafer® and Tri-Roller® brand names, Teflon lined polymeric bearings sold under the Tuflite® brand name, slotted entry, split ball and split race bearings sold under the PSI® brand name, self-lubricating machinable lined bearings and coatings sold under the Rexlon® brand name and mechanical seals sold under the Cartriseal® brand name.  Our global customer base includes all major engine and airframe OEM’s, as well as major Tier 1, 2 and 3 suppliers to the engine and airframe OEM’s and through our FAA approved repair station we support major MRO and aircraft operators with repair and overhaul capabilities.
 
Brief Description
 

This position works for Design Engineering department and assists in conducting all testing, research and development activities related to PSI products. Generates and maintains test schedules and test reports and assists in designing fixtures for test machines as needed to support all PSI R&D and testing activities. This position is located in Simi Valley, California.

 
Key Accountabilities 

  • Assist in all research and development activities related to PSI products
  • Assist with the design and fabrication of lab related test fixtures
  • Work at the PSI test lab and on other lab related equipment and activities
  • Set-up and monitor all engineering testing activities
  • Generate test reports
  • Support Continuous Improvement and Kaizen activities 

Job Requirements

Desirable Experience, Capabilities and Success Factors

  •  High School Diploma required.
  • Associate Degree a plus
  • Experience working in a mechanical lab is strongly preferred
  • Experience in setting up and operating a tension-compression machine
  • Knowledge and usage of metallurgical lab equipment (sectioning, mounting and microscopic analysis)
  • Familiar of common manufacturing process, tolerencing and inspection equipment.
  • Analytical thinker with strong problem solving skills
  • Team player who enjoys a fast-paced work environment
  • Compliance to policies and detail-oriented
  • Must have excellent Microsoft office skills
  • Basic knowledge reading blue prints a plus
  • Must have excellent communications skills
