Responsibilities:

If you are an experienced IT Project Manager with strong leadership capabilities and you are looking for a rewarding new career direction, join our cutting-edge team at CapTech! In your role as an IT Project Manager, you will oversee and coordinate your assigned staff in the planning, design and implementation of large-scale software implementation and IT process-improvement projects for our clients. As one of the most senior project team members on the job site, you will facilitate the process throughout the software development life cycle from initial analysis and design all the way through to implementation and user acceptance.

 

Job Responsibilities

As an IT Project Manager, you will generally be the first person assigned to a project and will confer with clients to determine needs, expectations and priorities so that project scope and requirements can be defined. You will then develop project plans and estimates and provide the critical path for the project, while ensuring that you have sufficient resources to meet all targets and deadlines. Another important component of your role as an IT Project Manager will be to supervise and motivate the various IT professionals who form your project team.

Your specific duties as an IT Project Manager will include:

  • Monitoring execution of all deliverables
  • Managing internal and external consultant resources and making sure the project team has the necessary skill sets to complete the project
  • Establishing the project’s overall critical path and ensuring that all project phases adhere to the agreed-upon timeline
  • Assisting project team in troubleshooting and finding solutions to unforeseen issues
  • Utilizing development methodologies such as System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to facilitate project fulfillment and delivery
  • Developing and monitoring project budget
  • Communicating with stakeholders, team members and other project managers on project status, including progress, risk and any issues that may have an impact on project delivery
  • Managing customer expectations and proactively closing expectation gaps
  • Taking ownership of, managing and obtaining approvals for all change requests, particularly regarding scope and budget
  • Ensuring that project team is adhering to all standards and processes as defined by clients
  • Managing and evaluating team members as well as overseeing additional consultants and subject matter experts (SMEs) as appropriate
  • Prioritizing issues for resolution, hold or escalation
  • Utilizing development methodologies such as System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to facilitate project fulfillment and delivery
  • Developing and monitoring project budget
  • Communicating with stakeholders, team members and other project managers on project status, including progress, risk and any issues that may have an impact on project delivery
  • Managing customer expectations and proactively closing expectation gaps
  • Taking ownership of, managing and obtaining approvals for all change requests, particularly regarding scope and budget
  • Ensuring that project team is adhering to all standards and processes as defined by clients
  • Planning major project phases and establishing project success factors with input from team leads and senior team members



 Requirements

As an IT Project Manager, you must have strong leadership and motivational skills to direct the project team effectively and to drive development both creatively and efficiently. You must also be engaged in the development process and able to easily understand proposed technologies and solutions, investigating and researching when necessary. It is also vital for your role as an IT Project Manager that you have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and that you can convey complex information in a clear and concise manner to team members as well as individuals at all levels of the client’s organization. You should also have a work style that is more process-oriented than task-oriented.

Specific qualifications for the IT Project Manager position will include:

 

  • 4 years project management experience leading medium to large projects through all phases of project life cycle; consulting background preferred
  • Experience with project management of system implementations, business analysis and process re-engineering
  • Familiarity with project management tools
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • PMI certification preferred
  • PMP certification a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred
  • Proficient with MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Experience with UML is strongly desired

Candidates must have the ability to work at CapTech’s client locations.
