Strong Data Center Demand Seen for 2010, more than a third of large corporate data center users in America plan to expand their footprint in 2010, and many are expanding because they have run out of power, not space. The need for additional power has become the main driver for data center expansion plans as companies seek facilities with adequate power and favorable utility rates to control operating costs. As a result, more companies are tracking their data center power usage and using the data in their capacity planning. The survey taken found that 76% of respondents now meter their power use. While the number of companies that meter power down to the PDU level increased by 29% over last year. These are very positive signs that companies better understand their data centers’ energy use and can make informed decisions to reduce energy consumption.

My client is currently looking several experienced Electrical Journeyman with hands-on experience with UPS systems, generators, and HVAC to work in a 24/7 critical data center environment supporting a customer. This is a non-exempt position. This position involves working nights, weekends and holidays. Not for the weak at heart on clearly decision makers that want to make a good living in an uncertain economy.

Requirements for Electrical Journeyman:
Required 3-5 years of relevant experience with critical systems infrastructure equipment.
Strong experience in Medium Voltage Switchgear, Diesel Generators, Paralleling Switchboards, UPS, PDU, Mechanical heat Rejection Systems, Computer Room Air Handlers, Fire Detection, Suppression, and Building Monitoring Systems.
Perform walk-through of customer facilities in support of data center and office operations and assist with administrative and technical work.
Perform routine and emergency service on state of the art critical systems.
Ensure strict adherence to company policy and procedure and aide in scheduling and managing vendors and subcontractors.
Hands on experience with UPS systems, generators, and HVAC.
Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Main hours are four ten hour days; on call as needed.
