Job Description 

This position is located in Madison, WI.

Oversees all aspects of the UWHC Radiation Safety Program, providing Radiation Health Physics services. Ensures quality in the safe use of radiation producing sources, including the protection of patients and staff from radiation and compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. Recommends radiation safety procedures to areas utilizing radiation. Educates personnel in radiation protection practices. Executes radiation safety tasks. Communicates identified radiation safety risks to UWHC Safety and Risk Management Departments.

 


Job Requirements 

1. Master's degree in Health Physics or related field required.
2. Ph.D. in Health Physics or related field preferred.
3. 7 years experience in radiation safety program operations and/or in the use of radioactive material within an academic laboratory research environment required.
4. 3 years overseeing a radiation safety or related program required.
5. 7 years overseeing a radiation safety or related program preferred.
6. Certification by the American Board of Radiology in a physics discipline or Certification by the American Board of Health Physics or American Board of Medical Physics in Medical Health Physics required.
7. Knowledge of radiation use in laboratory research, medical (including diagnostic imaging, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy).
