Job Description 

 

A Technology Architect is responsible for the conceptual, logical and physical design of the specific components of BBVA Compass' technical infrastructure, application landscape and business sponsored projects.

 

 

The primary responsibility of a Technology Architect is to work with the various technology experts within the bank to craft a complete solution to a stated business need. The Architect will ensure that these solutions fit within standards adopted by the organization. Further the Architect will work with the Enterprise Architect to define, adapt and maintain those standards. Produce a clear definition of technical requirements for assigned projects and areas of responsibility. Retain working knowledge of the technology environment in use at BBVA Compass as well as working relationships with the functional area experts. Broad understanding of multiple technologies, integration methodologies and best practice implementations. Establishing technical designs in compliance with IT enterprise standards. Works to build and maintain relationships across the BBVA Compass organization on architectural directions and technologies. Educating Technology and Business groups on the architectural aspects and implications of technical and functional decisions. Work with the Enterprise Architect and architecture team to determine future architecture of BBVA Compass based on business strategy, legacy and new technology. Work with the Enterprise Architect and architecture team to determine standards and processes for technical architectures.

 

How this architect role is different

This architect role will focus on the Web Services applications within BBVA Compass. It is highly crucial that incumbent possess experience with tools such as WebMethods, Rational tool suite and multiple software web services tools.  Candidate must have prior experience creating web services applications, debugging these applications and attending regular peer reviews. Individual must be able to express interest in web development on a large scale platform and be able to effectively lead groups throughout the SDLC.

 


Job Requirements 

BS degree required - Computer Science, MIS, Math or Engineering degree commensurate with experience. Seven plus years experience in the fields of application programming, systems development and IT Infrastructures. Experience must reflect multiple disciplines such as web development, mainframe programming, system integration, communication protocols, network engineering, etc. Banking or financial sector experience desired.

 

Technical skills to include: Citrix, Java, C++, COBOL, Web Services, .NET, WebSphere Application Server, IIS, Informatica ETL tools, Rational tool suite, TCP/IP, Windows, Solaris, MS SQL. Communications skills with Lines of Business as well as other technical and non-technical staff is a must. Documentation skills also critical. Must be able to work independently
