Tank Coater

Perform journey level work in the painting, finishing, and maintaining of a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures; may direct the work of other classified staff in the area; and perform related work or other labor work as required.

Prepares surfaces for industrial coatings, including performing sand blasting; applies industrial coatings using the full range of application methods and materials.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Sand blasts, prepares, and coats surfaces utilizing all types of painting materials.

2. Operates, cleans and maintains all painting equipment.

3. Keeps computerized records and submits reports of work performed.

• 2 years experience in tank coatings
• Valid Alaska driver’s license
• Ability to lift 75 lbs.
• Ability to use a respirator and supplied air
• Ability to work in confined space (e.g., interior of a tank)

Preferred:

• Ability to read mil thickness gauges

• Ability to calculate required wet film thickness for percent solids being used

• Ability to maintain paint equipment, including rebuilding paint pumps and spray guns

• Alaska Hazardous Paint Handlers Card

• NSTC Card
