Description

 

 Basic Function: The Physical Therapist provides physical therapy services and elements of patient/client care management leading to optimal outcomes according to the Wisconsin Physical Therapy Standard of Practice. The Physical Therapist works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in the areas of education and consultation regarding patient care needs in accordance with the vision and mission of Gundersen/Lutheran.

Major Responsibilities

1.  Works with patients and families to examine, evaluate, diagnose, prognose, and intervene to insure optimal outcomes. Also consults and educates in critical inquiry.
2.  Interacts and practices in collaboration with a variety of professions, communicates value of physical therapy services.
3.  Responsible for completing documentation according to established departmental standards to enhance effective patient care and proper reimbursement.
4.  Meets standards of practice according to federal, state, and professional association guidelines.  Maintains and achieves proficiency in departmental competencies.
5.  Teaches and counsels individuals, families, groups, and community.
6.  Participates in departmental and multidisciplinary review of process, treatment, or systems issues for quality improvement initiatives.
7.  Pursues relevant educational opportunities to maintain or enhance professional knowledge and meet departmental needs.
8.  May be responsible for coordinating and overseeing physical therapy student education as requested by supervisor.
9.  May be responsible for overseeing Physical Therapist orientation to various sites and/or programs as requested by supervisor.
10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Learning Experience
Required: Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy or equivalent
Desired: Advanced training in specialized area of physical therapy, Masters or Doctorate in Physical Therapy

Work Experience
Desired: 1-3 years experience in related field

Skills/Knowledge
Required: Ability to adapt to changing work needs, strong communication skills, ability to work cooperatively with team, ability to provide effective customer service to internal and external consumers.
Desired: Basic computer skills

Licenses/Certifications
Required: State Physical Therapy license

Physical Requirements/Demands of the Position
Exerting up to 100 pounds force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Position may include frequent bending, standing and walking, and occasionally twisting, kneeling, squatting and balancing. Need manual dexterity and strength to achieve routine patient care interventions.
