Job Description:
EG&G Technical Services, a division of URS Corporation, provides institutional services for NASA at Kennedy Space Center, FL. EG&G is actively seeking a Civil Systems Engineer to support our KSC Operations.Essential Job Functions: Independently perform and be responsible for complete designs, analyses, or design reviews. Generate complete design specifications for the most complex projects. May train other engineers on technical issues related to the research, design, development, testing and analysis of engineering assignments. Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements. Work with existing and/or establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status. Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications. Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications. Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations. Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures. Prepare, deliver and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies. May support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work. May organize and supervise a group of employees for a given project, contract or job with overall responsibility for cost, schedule, technical and employee performance.Our success depends on attracting the best talent.
Minimum Requirements:
BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required. MS is preferred. Minimum of 10 years experience as a civil or structural engineer with cross discipline experience. Support of facility maintenance programs on government and/or military installations desired. NASA experience desired. Experience supporting base operations programs, government and/or military installations preferred. Must have knowledge and experience with design/analysis tools and applicable building codes. Must have proven experience in the following sustaining and design engineering areas: structural analysis & evaluation, foundation analysis, frame analysis, and facility/structure remodel & reutilization. It is desired that the candidate also have experience in tower design, fall protection design, forensic engineering, site development, roadway and pavement, and excavation and grading. Candidate must have demonstrated experience working in a Team environment generating engineering documentation, independently performing analyses and maintaining schedules. Must have good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application program. Must have a valid driver’s license. Position may require travel. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. Licensed PE is required. Structural engineering abilities required. Prefer cross trained between civil and structural disciplines.NO RELOCATION OFFERED.
