Community Renewal Team, Inc. is a non-profit, Anti-poverty agency serving people and families throughout Greater Hartford and the state of Connecticut. CRT's Mission is, "Preparing our Community to Meet Life's Challenges", which is what we do by providing a variety of programs and services including but not limited to; Head Start Early Care and Education, Shelters and Supportive Housing, Energy and Weatherization, Alternative to Incarceration programs , Assisted Living and Behavioral Health services. CRT staff provides intense case management to help ensure that our customers receive the best possible support to help them reach self-suffienceny through our Steps-to-Success process. At this time, we are seeking a cook to work with customers in our finance department. The following is a brief summary of the duties and minimum requirements. Plans, prepares and provides nutrition meals to shelter clients. Position is held within McKinney Shelter which is an all male shelter in Hartford that services male clients with serious health conditions, criminal backgrounds and substance abuse backgrounds. The Cook coordinates with the Program Manager to plan daily menus and prepare meals for 100+ clients for both the McKinney and East Hartford Shelters. Assists Program Manager with ordering food and maintains inventory. Gives direction and supervision to shelter residents who help prepare meals and wash dishes. Risk of exposure to Tuberculosis and other contagious diseases. Risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens. Responsible for food safety under QFO standards.
