Description

Position Summary:

 

  • Partner and consult with leadership for the BioScrip Columbus, Lake Success and Burbank, Specialty Operations, Mail Operations and Traditional Customer Service functions.  This position will be a key member of the operational leadership team and will deliver and implement corporate HR initiatives, programs, products and services to the business group.  Success will include being able to provide expertise in all functional areas of Human Resources to include; creating an effective work environment and culture, recruitment, retention strategies, compensation, coaching leaders on performance management and effective leadership, employee relations, coaching to employees to resolve issues, investigating critical situations, organizational design, reporting and metrics, and talent management. 
  • This position will report to the Vice President of Human Resources and will also function as a member of the corporate HR team.  Team responsibilities will include participation in the design and implementation of best practice HR products and services as deliverables for the organization, and providing thought leadership as a key member of the Corporate HR Team and to continually improve the HR function.

  • Accomplished HR professional that has proven success in developing HR strategies and initiatives, as well as leading an HR operation in the healthcare industry preferred, but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with leaders, managers and with employees across the organization
  • In depth understanding and partner experience with competency in all Human Resource functional areas
  • Must be able to quickly grasp complex issues and to develop strategies for action

Requirements

Responsibilities:

 

  • Partners with the client group leadership team to provide HR leadership to the organization of approximately 280 employees in the BioScrip Specialty Operations, Mail Order and Traditional business groups.  Provide HR expertise, coaching and leadership in the development of leadership skills for the team.  Provide outstanding HR consulting on all areas of human resources. 
  • Manage the recruiting strategies and function for the direct hiring of exempt and non-exempt staff members.   As a part of the process, develop the selection skills of the management team.  Develop and maintain strong relationships with local colleges to ensure effective recruiting of degreed candidates.
  • Effectively coach senior leadership, attend staff meetings, and partner with the business to deeply understand the business
  • Lead the HR function to provide HR products, processes and services to meet the needs of the organization.  Coach and develop staff members, ensure confidentiality of all HR matters and run the operation of the HR department.
  • Work closely with business leaders to drive employee performance, employee engagement and the development of a productive work environment that encourages development of individuals and a work environment that has a culture of engaging employees where innovation and process improvement ideas are recognized and all individuals are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Lead and coach managers in dealing with performance issues, participate in the development of Performance Improvement Plans and monitor/assist managers in effectively dealing with performance issues.  Ensure consistency in progressive discipline and actions. 
  • Serve as a resource to employees, provide coaching  to assist them in dealing with/resolving issues, and also provide the safety net for employees to raise concerns about inappropriate behaviors, Sexual Harassment, Discrimination, Compliance issues, or inappropriate treatment.
  • Provide interpretation of policies and procedures to managers and employees
  • Manage employee relations for the employee group.  Work closely with the VP of HR to ensure consistency in the processes and outcomes.  Conduct investigations into employee issues, identify systemic concerns, and resolve issues and situations. 
  • Promote diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the organization.  Recruit talented diverse candidates, monitor development and continually look for ways to integrate valuing diversity in our employees and in how we are able to provide services to our diverse customers.
  • Serve as a key member of the corporate HR team, developing policies and procedures, providing best practices in all aspects of Human Resources to include; compensation, performance management, recruiting and retention, policies and procedures, development of programs, organizational design, effective benefit plans and employee communications.  Involvement in project management and the design and implementation of HR initiatives across the company.
  • Strong involvement as a thought leader with the corporate HR team, providing best practices, encouragement and development of staff members, with a passion to design and implement outstanding HR initiatives that meet the needs of the organization.
  • Act as the project manager for employee surveys, including administration, design of implementation strategies, communication and review of results.  Drive employee engagement strategies and continually review the effectiveness of the leaders and of HR in furthering the objective of employee engagement, driving innovation and ideas into the organization.
  • Work with leaders on development of staff members and conduct talent review sessions to determine the training, projects, and roles or assignments to develop key staff members

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Education— BS or BA Degree in Business, or a degree with business coursework, MBA a plus
  • HR Certifications a plus
  • 8 years of HR experience, Healthcare industry preferred but not required
  • Client assignment in a division or segment of an organization with responsibility for total delivery of HR products and services
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Competency in the ability to analyze data and to make conclusions from the data
  • Operating knowledge of Employment Laws and Compliance
  • Strong consultative partnering skills
  • Proven success as a partner with full generalist knowledge of all functional areas of Human Resources
  • Ability to travel
  • Proven experience in managing a site HR function and the ability to work independently, escalating issues appropriately
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and demonstrated success in rebuilding an HR function for a site
